Final

Walk Through Video

Video capturing atmosphere and transition in my space. Sounds heard: Seagulls, waves: Water. Echoes, Rumbles: Earth

Updated Entrance

In light of the feedback received, I decided to alter the entranceway in order to make it more in check with the theme and overall meeting type. The advice was to make it relate to earth, so instead of adding trees, which was one of the suggestions, I turned it into a rock structure, with angles and planes that echo the crystal below. This makes it more of an eye-catcher as well as bringing the whole design together.

Feedback and indigo

First render had some problems with light leaking in on the edges, as the walls were only single plane. Once I scoured the internet to find out the problem I went back to the model and fixed this before creating my next render:

We split into groups and presented a couple of A3 pages with our work each, recieving feedback which others would write in the margins of the page. Summarised, the feedback was:

-If its 'Earth meets Water', the earth side of things needs to be more prominent.
-The entranceway is boring. Relate to earth.
-It would be good to have seating down below.
-Having water below the crystal tank confuses the design, change to mirror.
-One person stated that with something like this the would love to be able to walk around and even under it, so the railing should be removed.
-To create further atmosphere, keep the cave below very earthy, dark and moist, like a real cave. Smell of soil.

The Unfortunate run-in with Cryengine

Unfortunately, no matter what I tried, Cryengine refused to take my sketchup model.

I tried importing only a cube, which also came up with errors, but managed to materialize all the same. Thinking I'll have to stick to Sketchup and perhaps try Indigo.

Development + Sketchup Model

Testing lighting effects. The idea is to have the tank illuminated in some way, so the light plays of the crystal's different planes. Based on this, I'd say option 3 is the way to go.
